About Dr. Paul
Dr Paul Shrimpton is a graduate of Balliol College, Oxford and teaches at Magdalen College School, Oxford. He is the author of A Catholic Eton? (2005) and The ‘Making of Men’ (2015) and has edited two volumes of Newman’s unpublished university papers. He has also written about the influence of Newman on the students of the White Rose resistance in Nazi Germany in Conscience before Conformity (2018). His most recent volume is ‘The Most Dangerous Man in England’: Newman and the Laity (2015). Dr Shrimpton wrote the section on ‘Education’ in the Positio Super Ecclesiae Doctoratu (2024), the document prepared for the cardinals and theological consultors in their deliberations over whether Newman should be declared a Doctor of the Church. He is currently working on a Newman sourcebook for secondary school teachers, parents and policy makers.
