Dan Murphy joined Western Academy in the Fall of 2015. He teaches math, science and Latin in the middle school as well as an advanced math class to 5thgraders. Mr. Murphy was fortunate to receive a liberal arts education at Trivium High School in Lancaster, MA. He attended University of Notre Dame, graduating in 2009 with a B.S. in Physics. He subsequently worked as a Research Technician at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City for three years. In Fall of 2012, he moved to Houston to do graduate work at Rice University, and in 2015 he received his M.S. in Applied Physics. He studied Latin for four years in high school, one year in college, and for four years during various summers since college. He has a passion for music, especially jazz piano, and has performed in various instrumental and vocal groups. Over the years, Mr. Murphy has volunteered in mentoring programs for high school boys as well as summer programs for both high school and middle school boys.
