David Maxham teaches upper school physics and chemistry along with middle school math. He also is the Lincoln-Douglas Debate coach and an assistant JV soccer coach. He attended public high school in NJ, captaining the chess team to a championship. He then moved on to Rutgers College, where he was an editor and board member of a campus watchdog group. He met his wife Samantha there on the first day of school and graduated in 2007 having studied mathematics and classics. He also taught part-time at a private Jewish school during his college years. David then went on to work in sales for a year and then taught mathematics in public high schools in Newark, NJ and Dunellen, NJ. He and his family moved to Damascus, MD in 2013 to teach at the Heights. He has previously taught AP European History, Ancient History, Chemistry, Life Science, Pre-calculus, and Algebra II. David also teaches all the summer school classes at the Heights, including math, Latin and Greek, and science. He still lives in MD with his wife, Samantha, and 8 children. His son, David, is in 11th grade.
